The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently released an update on President Trump's Buy American and Hire American Executive Order, which are initiatives seeking to protect the economic interests of U.S. workers and prevent fraud and abuse within the immigration system.
Use of E-Verify
To help reduce illegal immigration and preserve jobs for U.S. workers, USCIS encourages all U.S. employers to verify all new hires through E-Verify. The E-Verify verification process may be completed in three easy steps.
Immigration Fraud and Abuse
USCIS has taken the following steps to better detect and prevent immigration fraud and abuse:
Dedicated email addresses for H-1B/H-2B programs to make it easy for people to report fraud:
- H-1B: ReportH1BAbuse@uscis.dhs.gov
- H-2B: ReportH2BAbuse@uscis.dhs.gov
People may also visit Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division for information on reporting fraud and abuse.
Enhanced inter-governmental information sharing between the Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, Department of Labor, and Department of Justice aims to combat and prevent immigration fraud as well as streamline and improve existing and new processes in the immigration system, including how the agency issues visas.
Lastly, the agency has also revamped the current site visit program to further ensure the integrity of the immigration system.
